I worked with several contractors to diagnose and fix my AC Pro mini split units. Hundreds of dollars later and hours of frustration baking in the heat because of a non-working AC, Stephens was able to properly diagnose and fix my AC within days of calling them. Oscar, Omar, and Pancho are the best technicians with a wealth of knowledge. I called them for several different issues, and they have always been reliable, consistent, professional, friendly, and good at what they do! I know if I have a problem with my AC they'll get the job done. I am hard to please and id give them 10 stars if I could. Thank you Stephens Plumbing for doing an A++++ job!

I had a great experience with Stephens Plumbing! They were quick to respond to my problem (I had a leak around my toilet that I couldn’t manage on my own) and were so friendly and courteous on the phone and in person! I waited to write this until we were through the big heat wave (September 2022) to make sure everything kept working. It did. In August, my HVAC stopped blowing cold air. I called around and Stephens was the only one who could get out to me the same day. The first guy couldn't diagnose so he called in to the office and then sent someone else out later (same day). He determined it was a bad motor *and* bad board (it's an old system, so not surprised). One part needed to be ordered and he did that rush. Four days later, he came out and installed the new parts and got my AC working again. The diagnostic, part order, and install was actually *faster* than the estimated appointment dates for the first diagnostic I got from 3 other companies. Additionally, for the install, they shortened their window for me so that I could just leave work an hour early instead of taking a whole day off again. Price wasn't cheap, but having owned and serviced AC units for decades, the price and labor felt fair. The work also survived the worst week long heat wave we have seen here in decades. Our outdoor faucet started slowly leaking. Luis came very quickly, was very friendly and explained the issue well. He had a quick solution and the problem was fixed. I highly recommend Stephens Plumbing. Luis is amazing!

I requested a quote for a broken ceiling fan & was able to have a technician out for an estimate quickly! Eric & Poncho was responsive and showed up on time. A lot of handyman/techs I've worked with are super flaky and so unresponsive it's so frustrating. Eric was professional & I would definitely use this company for future projects.

I had different company's tech to check our heating units and they were trying to scam us by showing some other home's problems and get money from us which we didn't fall for it. I called Stephens and thank to them we solved the problem in 5 minutes. ( the other tech left the switch on off position inside the unit ) Pancho was very professional in his job and I will work with them anytime and recommend this company to everyone.

Our central heater was acting up, and It's only 3 months old! Oscar troubleshot our unit and really knew his stuff. He has tools to measure the gas flow when the heater is flamed on, and can tell if everything is nominal or not. Ours was OK once he pulled out the two air filters in our ceiling. They were all clogged up after only 3 months! Oscar told us that these new units burn hotter, so need more airflow to keep from melting. This makes them clog up the air filters in 3 months, where older units could wait 6 months before changing filters. Anyways, he sure knows his stuff from all the conversations we had about the various components that could effect the airflow. Thanks Oscar!

Matthew was sent this morning to fix my non-draining garbage disposer sink. He was quick to find the problem and fixed it very quickly. The job was done so cleanly too, really appreciate his great manner as well. He even offered to look at other issue I was having..... Making the appointment was also very easy (actual person answers the phone!!) and accurate. They also called this morning to let me know who was coming at what time, etc.
When I have any issues again with plumbing, I would definitely call them. I highly recommend this company!

About a week ago a friend noted the smell of gas in our house. We called the gas company and they said we did have a gas leak. We then called Stephens plumbing. They sent out a heating plumbing guy named William. He was very thorough and professional. He found the leak and repaired it. Very grateful as it has been very cold especially at night!! I highly recommend Stephens- especially William as he was able to solve our problem quickly and efficiently

Of all the days of the year our air conditioner had to act up, it was last night. Thank God for the ceiling fan, we survived the heat. I went to Yelp this morning and looked for an air condition repair company. To my surprise, almost everyone was closed. I read the reviews for Stephens Plumbing & Heating and read great reviews. I called and a real live person answered the phone (good sign). She said, "your technician's name is Poncho and he will be there at your place between now and 11:00 (it was around 9:15 when I called). Poncho arrived around 10:00. He was courteous and asked me a handful of questions. He asked if he can check the condenser, which is the hunk of machine located on our roof. Sure enough, the condenser is dead. He opened it and right away he said, I suspect this is part of the motor that is bad. Luckily, he had this part in his truck. A quick installation (about 10 mins.) voila! condenser is running again. From start to finish, it only took him less than 25 mins. to get our air conditioner running again. Disaster diverted. We are one happy customer! After 30 minutes when Poncho left, Eric called and asked me how did the work go and was everything to our satisfaction. I told Eric I felt lucky to have found them. I highly recommend Stephens Plumbing & Heating. Oh, Poncho even pointed out our current AC unit system is on the small side based on the square footage of our condo and suggested in the future to replace the size to a 3 ton system. Again, I highly recommend this company and I am a very satisfied customer !!!

Stephens plumbing is the best! we needed our pipes cleaned & a stoppage of water flow cleared in our bathroom shower. Sebastian did an excellent job. He was very thorough & knowledgeable about what needed to be done.He was also helpful in suggesting future maintenance to preserve the life of our plumbing.

Our Air conditioner unit broke down and we called Stephens and they responded quickly. Eric was very professional. Major project for my parent's home. Main pipes needed to be replace. Galan designed a pipe placement to save cost by shortening ca distance of one pipeline branching to the mainline the savings was over $2000 by that recommendation. Super professional work Galan wanted to speak to me before going ahead with the job because they didn't want to give impression of taking advantage of senior citizens. They have integrity. Their finished work on the project was something they were proud of by getting the right incline of the pipes to drain in the sewer line a lot of digging under the house, also did some other work on their toilets to make sure they were secured and didn't charge for that. I want to thank Stephens plumbing for their help With an issue I had. I thought we had a leak in my condo. First we had Williams and Christian out to check the washer and make sure that wasn't the problem. Williams made sure it was not to do
With the washer. Then I had Galan and Christian come to check. They moved out the washer and checked the surrounding area. Galan answered all my questions and gave me insight on what the problem could be. There was not a leak after all But I appreciate the time and care they gave to my issue. I have peace of mind now and that it is not a bigger issue behind the wall or work any piping.

Galan came out in the evening on short notice after we lost hot water. Which is not great in the cold winter months. We still had not hot water in the morning so we called back and Stephens sent a crew to replace the water heater promptly and on New Year's Eve. Good work.

Poncho did quick and great work. He was able to identify and fix my problem in 15/20 minutes. He got my clog removed and my unit up and running in no time. He was very knowledgeable and explained his process to me in detail. I would definitely recommend him for A/C and or plumbing issues. I saved his number in case I have any future issues.

They provided a VERY reasonable quote in a decent timeframe and were able to setup everything within a few days, and I liked that labor came w/ a 3 yr warranty. Ok. My kitchen sink had been clogged for almost two weeks. After trying to remedy this myself (many hours), I called Stephen's plumbing, The tech who arrived and got the clogged sink resolved was BYRON. Ask for him! He was very meticulous (which was good to see). But most importantly, he takes a lot of pride in his craft. Excellent at his work!

On September 26th, 2022 we had a brand new AC unit installed in our house and let me begin by saying that the service we received was outstanding!!!! Freddy and his helpers were very knowledgeable about everything and were also very professional. We got a great deal. We had previously called NexGen and the quote they gave us was outrageous. So glad we kept our business local and that they were able to give us the best deal around. I recommend them !!!

The fan in our ac unit stopped working during the dreaded heat wave. Called Stephens AC and because of the heat wave I had to wait a couple of days before someone could come out. I am assuming they were getting a ton of calls. Oscar came out and was amazing he knew exactly what the issue was and within about 30 minutes he had the AC up and running. Oscar was a great AC technician and I would recommend you request him.

I was having an clog issue in my kitchen sink so I needed a plumber. At first, I contacted a different plumbing company who sent a liar and a scam artist that told me I need $30K of work before contacting the Stephens Plumbing company. I am so happy that I called Stephens Plumbing. Once Stephens sent their plumber Luis out, he did an outstanding job. Luis quickly figured out the issue and gave multiple options to fix the problem with reasonable estimates. He explained the benefits of each option and helped me select the right choice for my issue and budget. Luis did such a good job fixing the kitchen clog issue that I had him fix of some other minor plumbing issues in my home's bathrooms. He installed a new fixture in my bathroom and it works great. I liked that Stephens Plumbing is honest and "no pressure". After dealing with the first plumbing company that was dishonest, it was refreshing to have an experience where Stephens Plumbing got to the point, no BS and they didn't try to scare me into expensive unnecessary repair work. I plan to use Stephens Plumbing in the future if I need any other plumbing work done on my townhome. I am very satisfied with their work and the overall experience.

I've had an issue with a sporadic wall heater for years. I called Stephens Plumbing and Heating because I wasn't getting answers or solutions and I am so glad I did. From the start, I was very impressed with this company. They were professional, responsive, and understanding, which was great but I really needed a solution. I worked with one technician who was professional but I was still having problems after his recommendations. They finally sent Oscar who really seemed to have a very holistic view of the heater. He brought a new perspective and a new solution. The wall heater is now working great!!! They were understanding of the importance of the issue, charged me fairly, and provided all documentation of work.

I waited a couple of weeks before I wrote this review to make sure everything was working consistently. I first want to say, what an amazing professional team. Second, Rob, the estimator and his lead man, Oscar were incredibly efficient and knowledgeable of how to put in ducts, heating, and AC for my modular home by the ocean. Rob also worked with the team of three men until one of his workers was freed up from another job. Stephe's bid was $400 more than the other bid, but I chose him over the other company because of the detail in the bid. The other company, based on its bid was not detailed which would have made me vulnerable to other hidden costs once the work got underway. The company has an excellent reputation and its fleet of vans are clean and newer looking than the other company I got a bid from-which was at least a 20 year old van with faded lettering. I'd recommend this company a hundred times over.

Galan and Arturo came out to help and were very respectful and nice. They figured out my problem and gave me an estimate to fix my plumbing underneath my house - that a handyman had created a future problem using incorrect supplies. Will write up another review after they've done their work.

Another good experience with Stephens Plumbing. This time, Rico was our plumber. The water heater pilot light went out. The heater is 11 years old, so we were worried we would have to get it replaced. Rico was able to re-light it, but we were worried why it went out in the first place. So we paid more to have the burner cleaned out. It seems to be staying on, so we have our fingers crossed that it will last a few more years. It was nice that he didn't just push us to replace the water heater, which would be really expensive.

We're local realtors and property managers. Had a home that had heating/plumbing issues while in escrow. Galan was able to come out, assess the situation, and complete all required repairs in a timely manner and at a fair price. Will definitely work with Stephen's plumbing again.

New Update: Got an appropriate apology and assurance that the permit will be closed out as necessary to apply for the rebates. Updated: I've used Stephen's in the past for HVAC maintenance of my outdoor condenser and when it was time for replacement, didn't hesitate to get quote on 2 zone system to help cool our upstairs bedrooms. Installation and workmanship were all good.

Stephen's Plumbing & Heating installed our air conditioner 14 years ago and we have never had an issue until this week. We called on Wednesday, spoke with Ryan Stephens and Oscar showed up early the next day. Customer service was awesome and the response time was really awesome considering how hot San Pedro has been. Oscar arrived and was very professional and consciences about work shoes on our carpet. He and got straight to work and found the problem VERY quickly for which we are grateful. Luckily it was a minor - easy fix and we were up and running again in no time. While Oscar was here, we inquired about our heater. He was gracious to take a quick look and give up peace of mind that all is well. We have used Stephen's Plumbing for many years now and will continue to do so.

Recently I had an issue with the wall heater in my house losing functionality. I called two companies to take a look, one of them being Stephens Plumbing and Heating. The first company was able to come out the same day while Stephens was booked until a few days later. The first company came out and after about 5 minutes they told me my heater needed $700 in repairs and provided me an itemized list of things that needed to be replaced. Feeling a bit cautious of this estimate I waited until Stephens Plumbing and Heating came out. Good thing I did, the Technician came out and after about 10 minutes or so of investigating my heater he discovered the issue was a couple of wires coming loose and was able to fix them and simply charge me for the diagnostic work. Couldn't recommend them more highly and if I run into any other heating issues they'll be the first group that I call.

Our a/c was blowing room temp air during a heat wave. Oscar our technician came within 2 days of calling and was on time and very friendly. He spent the time to explain what was wrong with our unit and our options available. I didn't feel like we were being upcharged. The front office staff also was responsive. Would use again

Highly recommend. We had scheduled an AM service call. However, problems created on our end resulted in Stephens coming out but unable to start the job. They kindly rescheduled in the afternoon and took care of the plumbing issue. The office dispatcher was just great throughout the whole ordeal!!!!

Byron was very helpful identifying the problem with the high water pressure and installed a water pressure regulator. He explained all the steps so I understood what was going.

I don't think I can say enough about this company. This is my second review. And EVERY TIME I get exceptional service I will be doing another review. From the employees who make the appt to Oscar. This company delivers A+ service. Oscar knows what he's talking about. And if there is not work that needs to be done. He's honest and won't make something up. I appreciate that in a service repair progressional. As I stated before and will be saying again. He is the only service maintenance person I'll be using for my Hvac and furnace needs.

Great work done from Oscar removing our wall heating unit and from Matthew who repaired a pretty old and problematic loose toilet. Both had fair prices and showed up on time explaining what they thought the job would entail. The toilet was so old Matthew took the time to re-a fix onto new wood until we can afford better su flooring work. I had MANY plumbers quote and people on the phone try to give me the run around before having these two pros give an estimate in person. As a woman who knows enough about tools and repair (yes I fall into the "handy category" they were very courteous, respectful, and honest with their quotes (trust me I've had my fair share of the opposite so I can really appreciate them!). If it allowed for 6 stars i would have rated them higher. If you are in the southbay these guys are a hidden gem since they are located in San Pedro and yes I tried many southbay plumbers with no luck (expensive or unreliable or both) until these guys came out to the house. Byron the plumber showed up originally and helped diagnose the problem. It was an odd job..... Turns out it was an air conditioning problem in which Oscar showed up. Oscar was amazing a responsible. He is also very kind and professional. Both Byron and Oscar are knowledgeable, attentive, and all around great guys to handle our job. Yes, we will be using them again with any plumbing/heating or air conditioning problems!

Our old wall heater near the bedrooms was not venting properly and the gas company after inspection red tagged it. I was going through yelp and called Stephens, they were able to come next day and Omar showed up and was great. He had to remove the heater to clean the firebox and replace the uncoated brass gas connector. He also replaced the gas connector on the living room heater. Omar had great attitude and explained everything and was very fair price. Big time happy customer

Got a second system installed for my downstairs. Oscar was great and Eric at the office was super responsive. Always answers the phone and can send someone out in a short amount of time. Feels like a real family business that takes care of their customers.

Oscar is the best! We thought the A/C needed repair, and the heater needed a full replacement. Oscar took only a few minutes to discover that BOTH the A/C and Heater could be easily fixed, and it would only take a short amount of time to do it. When the A/C kicked on we were very happy... though when he tested the heater (which we thought would need to be completely replaced), we were ECSTATIC to see that it now works also. Thank you Oscar! Not only is my homeowner happy, I know that many other homeowners will be happy in the future for when we need the A/C working.

We called this company to fix our AC at work. We had 2 other companies out that told us we had major problems and gave us really high quotes. Stephens came by to repair my ancient floor heater. They're the experts in older floor heaters. Omar found several things that hadn't been repaired properly by another company, and unfortunately my heater got red tagged, due to a large crack that can't be repaired. Despite the bad news Stephens was very helpful and professional amd saved me from CO poisoning or a possible explosion. Thank you!

We have had the same pesky kitchen sink problem since we moved into our new townhome in 2019. Every time it has backed up, I've called Stephens Plumbing and I've never been disappointed. It backed up on us just this past week (on my birthday no less) and they sent the gentlemen of their technicians Galan and Arturo. Super polite, fast, and efficient. You'd be lucky to have them walk through your front door. As always, there was super clear communication from dispatch as to when I could expect my plumber to arrive, and my sink is running beautifully. No complaints.

After a few false starts, Stephens really came to the rescue. Eric was very kind and apologetic when things couldn't be fixed immediately. He followed up and made sure I got the help I needed. Rico is the star, he really went above and beyond to help solve my plumbing problems.

Had a great experience with Stephens plumbing for our tankless water heater replacement. Williams first came by to help diagnose the problem. His honest assessment of our 11 year old unit helped me to decide that replacement was the best option. A week later and the install was fast and clean. It's nice to have service reps who don't try to upsell you and that's how it has felt with both plumbing and AC service at Stephens Plumbing.

We needed someone to replace our garbage disposal when it died (water was gushing through the electrical housing!). They were quick to respond, listened to our needs, polite, helpful, and fast. The technician who responded was personable, funny, knowledgeable and fast. They did the work quickly with no mess and no fuss. They gaurenteed their work and I was very happy. They are my first call for future plumbing problems!

We had an emergency situation where our garbage disposal stopped working and water backed up into the kitchen sink and also into the sink of a bathroom at the back of the house. I chose this company based on Yelp reviews. They called me back quickly, and were very professional over the phone. Sebastian came out the same day. He was prompt and spent quite a bit of time trying to identify the problem. He wound up being here (unobtrusively) for HOURS, bringing 3 different machines and also calling a colleague to come help. He was determined to find out the source of the problem. Ultimately, he determined that we needed to have an exterior clean-out installed. He made it clear that he could not guarantee that the pipes would not ultimately need replacement but recommended the cleanout as the next course of action. Throughout the entire time, they were here both men were respectful of me and my home. They put on boot covers they had brought with them and cleaned up before they left. Sebastian gave us an estimate for parts and labor for the cleanout installation, and after discussing it we agreed to undertake the work. Of course, on the scheduled day, the skies opened and it rained solidly the entire time. It was cold. This was all during the time when it rained non-stop and was an atmospheric river here in our area. Sebastian worked outside the entire time, uncomplainingly. The weather was so awful it probably made him sick afterwards but he plugged away and solved the problem.He always explained to us exactly what he saw, next steps and alternatives. The prices were reasonable, in line with the estimate and he left my house immaculate, including mopping up, before he left. I have a different emergency and will be calling them back. Honest, hardworking, determined, reasonably priced, respectful and excellent at diagnosing and solving the problem after doing whatever it took. So impressive! Call them first for your plumbing needs. You won't be disappointed. FYI, we are in the South Bay, not SF as the app incorrectly states.

Being that Stephens is my first choice, I called them for a garbage disposal and a couple of other touch ups in sinks. Again Matthew was the tech and again it was a complete pleasure working with him. He made sure everything was what I wanted and he took on any weirdness that was there from the previous 40 odd years of miscellaneous levels of work skill. I was happy with the costs, and I now have a sparkling trim over a quieter much faster to finish disposal. The other work was similar. Again, Stephens is going to be my first choice in plumbing.

Williams came by today for a couple different fixes. He was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, courteous, efficient, and super nice. We have been using Stephens for years and employees like Williams is the reason why.

My main drain pipe was clogged on Christmas night, called Stephens Plumbing around mid night and scheduled with them to come out next day first thing in the morning Galan and Freddy are awesome, arrived on time and very professional. Poncho came out after the service provider dispatched by my home warranty company could not find the cause of the furnace failing to ignite. He diagnosed the issue and ordered the necessary part. once the part arrived, had the office schedule the repair for the next day. He arrived within the prescribed time frame and repaired the furnace using the part he had ordered. Poncho is very knowledgeable and thorough. He was able to explain his diagnosis and the preferred solution. He was pleasant and professional. I would highly recommend him and Stephens as a service organization. Thank you Poncho.

My grandparents had problems with their toilet which is why we called this company. The technician that came was Freddy G. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He knew exactly what the problem was and was quick to fix the problem. I would highly recommend this company. The staff does a great job identifying the problem and goes straight to work. They know what they are doing!!!

Our water heater broke and what a mess!!! Called them up and they came out same day and within short amount of time. Galan and Andres were very professional and gave us multiple options and scenarios with the understanding that we needed our water to be fixed right away and that we have a tight monetary budget. This review is long overdue. I had Stephens replace a relatively new AC/heating system back in June of 21. long story short the other AC company I worked with under designed the previous system. they closed up shop and left town. so after talking to a few hvac companies I went with Stephens. and am I glad I did. top to bottom my experience with them has been first rate. from estimate to installation to support Stephens has been wonderful to work with. cost was very reasonable. everyone I've dealt with was professional. they came out a couple extra times to dial in the dampers and check on the condenser. always on time. and I know if something went wrong they'd be there to fix. I've liked my experience so much that if/when I have a plumbing issue, they'll be my first call. thank you Stephens!

Our heating unit wasn't working day one when we purchased our condo (we're on 2 years now sitting in a freezing house). Our insurance company (Fidelity) was and is useless. They couldn't find a vendor who could climb a 2 story building and walk on tile. So we told them we'll find someone on our own. So after calling vendor after vendor on our list and being told the same excuse, we called Stephens Plumbing. The operator (who I can't remember her name) was accommodating and set us up with Poncho and Samuel. The week before we received a courtesy call to remind us of the appointment. I'm very satisfied with the work Galan and Arturo from Stephens did to replace ancient cast iron drain pipes in my house. I had a leak under my house which, on inspection, was part of a much larger problem with old, corroded cast iron pipes. Galan did a great job patiently, and clearly explaining, then demonstrating out the problems. Although extensive pipe replacement work needed to be done, I felt no pressure to do anything I wasn't comfortable with, as Galan's explanation of what needed to be done and what could wait was very clear. Through the process, Galan and Arturo were very responsive and sensitive to my needs as well as the other tenants in the house. At various times, the water needed to be shut off, and they were very communicative about the timing as well as keeping the down time to a minimum. Additionally they worked quickly and without complaint in very cramped conditions under the house. I highly recommend Galan, Arturo and Stephens for any plumbing issue you come across.

During the recent heat wave we were in dire need of air conditioning repairs. I contacted Stephens expecting availability issues. I spoke with Eric who was very sympathetic to our situation and indicated they were busy but he would make some inquiries and get back to me. To my surprise he promptly called me back and told me he would get someone out to us the next day. The tech Oscar showed up on time and was able to promptly discover the issue. He then took considerable time in explaining to me the problem and our options. I later received a follow up call from Eric checking to see how things went and if I had any questions. I requested that he order the part and he got back to me the next day with the pricing. He then scheduled us within the week for the repairs. Tech Matt and Daniel arrived on time and installed the part. I then received another follow up call from Eric and thanked him for all his efforts to get this done. The system has worked very well since then. The professionalism and responsiveness of Eric and the techs was very impressive particularly during a heat wave. They really helped us out and for any other heating or air needs I wouldnt hesitate to use them again. Very happy to see there is still good service out there.

My HVAC system has been giving me problems this year and I had disappointing experiences with the first two companies I hired. I'm so relieved to have found Stephens Plumbing & Heating. I called them and the scheduler was able to give me a same day appointment with Omar. After inspecting my furnace, Omar gave me a detailed explanation of why my heat had stopped working and showed me pictures of the damage. He had a replacement part in his truck and was able to repair the unit right away. The price was very reasonable and included a 1-year warranty on the replacement part. I'm extremely satisfied with the service I received and plan to contact this company again if I have issues in the future.

Potentially had a small refrigerant leak in our A/C that was installed about 2 years ago. The A/C cooled but not optimally. Omar initially came out last week and noted that it needed more refrigerant. Eric, Sam, Daniel and Oscar worked with me to develop a reasonable plan of action. Extremely satisfied that everyone understood my concerns and addressed the issue.

Galan is the best. Friendly and informative. He unclogged our kitchen sink. When he went to unclog the washing machine drain and was unable to, he didn't charge us anything. He even drew me a diagram of the major work that needs to be done and explained it in an easy-to-understand manner. He was super-clean and washed down the mess outside. Their prices are very reasonable. I'd definitely use them again.

I contacted Stephens looking to install a Mini Split System for my ADU. Right from the start working with Eric was easy and stress-free. He was more than willing to share with me his knowledge of the different brands and how the process would work. Eventually we agreed to move forward with a Mitsubishi Mini Split System and he provided a great quote for the work and upgraded my system. When it came time for installation, Stephens sent over Freddy, Matthew, Samuel, and David. These guys were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond what I had asked for and what was quoted for me. They walked the property to determine the best place to locate the equipment and even removed an old heater unit from my wall free of charge. They kept me posted throughout the day as they did the work and when finished, left my home as clean as when they arrived. I am so impressed by Freddy, Matthew, Samuel, and David and their professionalism. Stephens will now be my new HVAC team moving forward and I will recommend them to all my family and friends throughout South Bay and OC.
